National Lottery Local Legend

Youth worker Mel Diack has picked up a National Lottery Award thanks to his involvement with Avenir Training’s Burnley Army Preparation Course and other projects. Mel, who is a familiar figure at the APC, was named a Local Legend after working with young people for six years. Mel was presented with the trophy by television presenter Tess Daly at the lottery-funded Eden project in Cornwall.

Stephen Harrison, Director of the Army Preparation Course, said: ‘We offer Mel our warmest congratulations. He has helped many young people to access our course and get themselves a headstart in life. His support and encouragement have been invaluable.’
