Avenir Training has been named a northern finalist in the HSBC Start-up Stars Awards 2006. The nationwide awards - presented in association with the Daily Express and Sky News – were launched six years ago with the aim of seeking out Britain’s brightest new businesses and the inspirational entrepreneurs behind them. Having deliberated over a ‘level and quantity of entries that were outstanding’, the judges were particularly impressed with the Avenir Training entry and have short listed them for the regional finals. Organisers say you don’t have to be running the biggest or fastest growing company – but it should be the kind of venture with the ‘X-Factor’ that others can look to for inspiration if they are contemplating turning their own business dreams into reality. Last year’s winner was Club Asia – a unique London radio station launched by two sisters from Essex and specifically designed to appeal to young British-Asian listeners. In less than three years, it has become the fastest-growing commercial radio station in London. The national winner will be crowned ‘HSBC Start-up Star 2006’ at a glittering black-tie event at London’s Savoy Hotel later this year, scooping a top prize of £25,000. |
